Turning a moment into momentum

Momentum can be a real challenge for any leader, but what if it was easy, what if it was so enjoyable that you couldn't live without it and it became part of who you are as a person? I can't say that I have discovered the answer to this question but rather this is my question. What if leading a group of people was more like surfing? You pick your moment, set your angle, and try to stay ahead of the current.

Identifying our moment:

It may be easier to create the moment, but is it right to create it rather than find it? I would have to say I find it more appealing, if I'm honest, to create (manipulate) a moment on which to build momentum rather than it is to wait on the right moment to mark as a starting point. If we resolve to live a truly Christian life, a spirit lead life, then shouldn't our moments be scripted not by our choosing but rather of our Maker's? Do we have the resolve, are we at peace, are we at rest enough to wait for our moment and are we sure enough to take it?

My Resolve: I need to find creative people. I believe that there are creative people who are catalysts for momentum but not necessarily the leaders of it.

Finding the current:
When Christ spoke in scriptures about how or the way we live he often told parables using nature as an example. So if we use nature as an example we see that nature moves in currents or cycles if you will. I wont say that they are predictable as much as they are noticeable.

My Resolve: Am I seeking to lead God or am I being lead by God?

Setting your angle:
In leadership it seems that our strategic energy is spent on creating the moment rather than how can we capture the energy of this moment and where it will take us. What if we could identify those who are the creative sparks around us, create an opportunity for them to infect others and unify the collective in a common vision.

My Resolve: If leadership is shared rather than directed, does strategy rise up out of the collective?

Stay in front of it:
The whole point of momentum is where it takes you. So why do we want to control/tame the momentum? If we tame it then  we have accomplished something, but if it's not about us to begin with then who does it benefit?

My Resolve: Is it possible that a disciplined life can be lived like a rudderless ship being carried by the winds?

If we are able to identify who the creative spark starts with (moment), and if we seek to be moved by God (current), and if the key contributors are unified (strategy), and if we are more in love with serving others that being noticed (staying in front of it) then maybe we can turn moments into momentum.
