Is the church for the city?

Lets play a little game. Because Christians met on Sunday, Monday is __________. How would you fill in the blank? Am I am not sure I ever thought about it this but is Monday different or better because christians gathered on Sunday? What if it was? How can it be?
This for me is probably the single greatest question I have ever wrestled with. As I look at our churches (for the most part) many of them have either lost voice with or never had a voice with their city. If xyz church closed would the community morn? I feel that many churches have lost there voice with the city because the city knows (or think they know) their message and what their about and they are buying it or they have abused there voice.
Can a church gain audience with their city?
I do believe this is possible and I'm pretty emphatic that it can. But to answer this, first the church needs to posses something that the city wants. Here are three principles that if we grasp the gravity of these then I believe we can once again regain a voice in our cities.
1. We must be visible in our cities not just on our corners.
2. We must serve the broken places of our city. Every city has broken places that they don't have answers for. If we can move into these areas and provide answers that work, we can bring change.
3. Once you slay Goliath an army will follow.
